"zhao ziwo", to seek one's self, can't be a very old, traditional term, in Chinese. Certainly not for the lao bai xing, the old 100 names (which means something like "ordinary" people).
It might look like a bit of luxury to have a this kind of portrait. But it could matter, as another small step towards a real modern China.
